Do the plug wires have to be hooked up a certain way on the distributer cap of a 1992 ford taurus?

i have a 1992 ford taurus and it wont start ever since i had to take the distributer cap off to change my tps. when i hooked everything back up it wouldn't start. ever since then the car cranks and cranks but never turns over... all you hear is it trying to fire and it sputters real low and acts like its trying to start. can you help?
