Could a breathing tube that was put down my throat mess up my breathing and cause coughing?

i had an appendicitis when i was in 5th grade i am now 19 but a couple years ago i started coughing a lot more then normal and have breathing problems could this be caused by an endotrachial tube or the fact they gave me an adult dosage of anesthesia when they did it
