What is the Perth social life like for young people?

I am 24 years old and moving to Perth Australia in the new year for work. I have never been to Perth and don't know anybody but have heard it is not a good place to live for young people. I'm a big fan of socialising, clubbing and general drunken banter . Can you recommend the best areas to live? thanks
