Spraying for ants...?

I live in a small two bedroom apartment. We've had ant problems ever since we've moved in, but I've found with keeping things extra tidy they haven't been a problem. My apartment complex offers to have people come in and spray every Wed. but I'm 40 weeks pregnant. Just recently the ants have discovered our pantry... and needless to say about 100 $ worth of food has just gone to waste. It was horrible. Are thee any safe methods of spraying that I can use around me and my soon to be born baby?
